A beautiful example of a classic Knossos dark Terracotta Pot, handmade in Crete. This pot is very unusual because it has been made with a darker than usual Cretan clay. The clay has been unfiltered, so it still contains tiny pieces of sea shells, clearly visible in the patina of the pot. This pot also has 4 handles. Very rare.
Approximately 50 to 60 years old. In excellent condition with no cracks or chips.
We have gently cleaned the inside and outside of the pot, being careful to preserve the original vintage patina. We have given it 2 coats of natural oil (a special blend of hazel oil, soy bean oil and sunflower oil) to give the pot a rich, soft sheen and to accentuate the patina.
This Pot would make a beautiful feature inside the house or conservatory. It is frost proof, so it can also be used in the garden all year round.
